Azerbaijani-produced Matador and Marauder combat vehicles to be handed over to the Armed Forces

10:06 GMT, February 10, 2011 Baku | The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense Industry will soon deliver 30 “Matador” and “Marauder” mine-protected armoured vehicles to the Armed Forces, military sources told APA.
Also, orders by South Africa’s Paramount Group for 30 military vehicles have been manufactured in Baku, along with those for the Ministry of Defense Industry.
The vehicles include 14.5 mm and 12.7 mm machine guns with V shaped chassis which, in case of antitank mine explosions, protect personnel from explosions.
Note that the Matador can transport 14 personnel (12+2), and the Marauder 10 (8+2) personnel. Their explosion resistance is rated at 21 kg TNT and 14 kg TNT. These combat vehicles can also protect personnel from 7.62 mm ammo. The Matador meets standards of STANAG 4569 Level 4a and STANAG 4569 Level 4b, while the Marauder meets the standards of STANAG 4596 Level 3a and STANAG 4569 Level 3b.
