PT Dirgantara Indonesia held a ceremony to announce their completion of the first batch of tail booms and fuselages for French-based Eurocopter helicopters in a ceremony in Bandung on Wednesday.
The parts will be used in the airframes of the Eurocopter’s EC 225 and EC 725 helicopters.
PTDI was represented by its director Budi Santoso and Eurocopter by Eurocopter Indonesia director Jean-Luc Alfonsi.
The ceremony witnessed containers filled with the parts dispatched to France.
The handover was part of a US$42 million contract between the two sides signed in 2008.
Budi said that the contract, which ran until 2020, required PTDI to deliver a total of 125 tail booms and 125 fuselages over the next 10 years.
“We are trusted to produce 93 percent of the airframe components for EC,” Budi said.
The inaugural shipment of EC components is expected to ease the cash flow of PTDI which has had to delay payment of its 4,900 employees’ salaries. —JP
